Dear Sharon,
Hello!
I take my paw in hand to write you a note to let you know that I am alive and well. It has been a busy year for me since I left your house.
You will always have a special place in my heart for rescuing me after being abandoned. You gave me hope in my darkest hour. I will forever be grateful to you and your wonderful family for giving me shelter in your home until my Mistress could come and get me.
I am learning to act like a lady when visitors come, which is very hard as I have so much love to give. I have to restrain myself from covering visitors in doggy kisses, but I can now sit and shake a paw, which humans seem to prefer.
I still haven't taught the two cats in this house to play like a dog yet, but I am working on it. Meanwhile I keep them in place by letting them know who is boss.
I have become quite possessive of my home and am quick to let any stranger know whose territory this it. You wouldn't believe how fierce I can sound for my size. Outside the fence I keep all vehicles and strange animals chased off.
The best days are when my Mistress can work outside in her f lower gardens. Then I romp, chase squirrels, and explore every inch of my property.
Other days I keep my Mistress company resting at her feet while she is in the recliner or snoozing beside her in bed. Either way I make sure that she is safe and follow her wherever she goes.
The one time my Mistress left me with the Master while she went and spent a couple of days with her daughter's house I wouldn't eat or sleep, but laid on the couch watching the door until she returned. The next time she took me with her.
I have learned to trust the Master of the house and not be frightened of his loud voice. Each day I look forward to when he comes home from work as we play and roughhouse together. I've even taught my Mistress how to play doggy style.
I have a pen pal. He is a special friend of my Mistress, who has cancer. He loves to get letters from me and says that it makes his day.
While some might call me spoiled, I have to confess that I am quite the contented dog. I've regained my self esteem back and have put behind me the scary days of being abandoned, although I will never forget your kindness to me.
Well I'd better sign off for now as my Mistress needs to use the computer.
I send you lots of doggy kisses and furry hugs,
Lucy Lou
